Here’s a less messy way to do castor oil packs to ease stagnation and congestion, move stuck lymphatic fluid, and increase circulation to reduce pain and speed healing of soft tissue. My new castor oil balm! It’s solid castor oil with a herbal kick. Great to use over your kidneys, lungs, abdomen, or any place you have pain and need healing. Comes with a white cotton towel for moist application, a 2 oz or 4 oz jar of my castor oil balm, and Instructions. All you need is an optional heat pack. Enough for 20 castor oil packs. Extra Support from Castor Oil PacksCastor oil has long been used in folk medicine, dating back to ancient Egypt, for a number of ailments including slow moving bowels, digestive issues, and lung congestion. It comes from the oil of the castor seed.Castor oil packs are typically recommended because of their ability to promote super charged healing, support healthy inflammation, and improve circulation, especially lymphatic circulation. They are typically made with a number of layers of flannel and cold-pressed castor oil which is then placed on the affected area. Make sure to use cold pressed, organic castor oil, hexane free which can be purchased from health food stores and online. I prefer, and will only use and recommend castor oil from Premier Research Labs because of the importance of obtaining a truly toxin- free castor oil. What is a Castor Oil Pack?Traditionally, castor oil packs involved the use of cloth soaked in castor oil which is placed on the skin. I was taught to use them in a much easier and less messy way: Apply about 1/8 cup over the area you want to treat. Spread over the area liberally, and do not rub in. Typically, the pack will be over one of the main detox organs, such as the liver and abdomen, the kidneys and low back, the upper back and lungs, or the chest and lungs. Next, you will take an old hand towel and get it wet, wringing out any excess water so it isn’t dripping. Heat the towel for a minute in the microwave. Preferably don’t use a microwave, and alternatively, you could heat water on the stove or run a sink full of very hot water and soak the towel, carefully wringing it out afterward. Place the moist hot towel over the castor oil, and cover with a heat pad or another towel to seal in the heat. Now give yourself permission to relax for 30 minutes. When your time is up, shower off and the castor oil will continue doing its job, increasing circulation and grabbing debris to be eliminated. For an extra cleansing power, I like to add lemongrass essential oil to my castor oil. Three or four drops should be plenty. This method is also wonderful for: *Inflamed and swollen joints, and soft tissue healing. *The abdomen to relieve bowel problems and other digestive difficulties. *The lower abdomen in cases of menstrual irregularities and uterine and ovarian concerns. *over scars*over lungs*over liver and kidneys*over sore muscles, strains and sprains and broken bones.
